In this auspicious year of 2012 I have turned 40. Yup, hard to believe really as I have little to show for these two score years so far. 1x husband, 1x house, 1x black & white cat, 2x jobs, lots of books (which I'll probably never read now there is Twitter) an addiction to American tv sitcoms, a love of indie movies, pub quizzes & stationery.
To celebrate this milestone, and as a way of making myself get out more (and not just to the pub) I'm gonna do one of those blog challenge things.
Not planning to cook my way through any recipe books, or document any sexual encounters, school dinners or scarecrows. (too lazy, married, old & scared of scarecrows) No, this will be an exploration of all things Norwich.
Having lived here for nearly 12 years (not yet fully accepted by the natives) it's time to actually explore a bit more & practice writing about the stuff I find. There will be pictures, (maybe even video if I'm feeling brave) cake will be eaten and possibly documented. There may be reviews of gigs, shows, shops, art, weather, cemeteries, eateries, parks, puppets and all manner of goodies I haven't decided on yet.
The only criteria is that it has to be uniquely Norwichy. So no national chains or brands, just local things and local people. And I have to make it to 40 things.
Who knows how long this will take, or if I'll just get bored after a week. We'll see. Join me then, on a meander round the cobbled streets and numerous watering holes of this fine city.
